The Antara scheme (dispensing Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate/ DMPA) was introduced for women in India to increase the space between children in 2017. The study was planned to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding Antara for mothers of reproductive age mothers. The objective of the study was to identify the knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding Antara contraceptive methods in rural populations. A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design were used. A sample of married women was selected by a probability convenient sampling method from a rural area of the Etawah district; the sample size was 50 mothers. Structured questionnaires and a rating scale were used to collect the information. Content validity was obtained from experts, and the reliability of the tool was calculated by the Spearman split-half method. Ethical permission was obtained before the study. The socio-demographic information of the study revealed that the maximum (44%) of women were aged between 23-27 years, 92 percent Hindu, 86 percent housewife, 56 percent had 2 children. The majority (60%) of women had inadequate knowledge, whereas 66 percent of women had a favourable attitude. The correlation between the knowledge and attitude of reproductive women regarding Antara injection was a weak positive correlation, and there was no significant association of knowledge and attitude with the selected demographic variables. The majority of women who used Antara had inadequate knowledge and were not having strong attitude towards further use. The findings indicated that knowledge needs to be increased before practice by the health workers (ASHA, ANM, Community health officer, Nurses) in rural areas.
