Ayushman Bharat is a flagship health programme of the Union Government for achieving universal health coverage by improving access to quality healthcare and providing financial protection. Limited awareness and utilisation remain major challenges. This community-based cross-sectional descriptive study among 300 adults (18-65 years) found that 65 percent persons had heard about Ayushman Bharat, but only 38 percent had good knowledge, while 30 percent had poor knowledge. Utilisation was low (27% ever using the services and only 18% utilising them in the past year). Education and socio-economic status showed significant association with both knowledge and utilisation. Major barriers included lack of awareness, procedural complexity, and distance to empanelled health facilities. There was suboptimal knowledge and utilisation despite wide scheme coverage. Limited awareness and administrative barriers hinder effective implementation. Higher education and socio-economic status positively influenced utilisation, consistent with previous studies. Strengthening community awareness, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the role of frontline health workers are essential to improve access and achieve the goals of universal health coverage.
