Contemporary nursing education is undergoing rapid transformation due to advances in artificial intelligence, digital health, genomics, climate science, and health policy. Preparing nurses to function effectively in such complex environments requires the cultivation of interdisciplinary interest and competencies. This review aimed to synthesise existing evidence on interdisciplinary interest in nursing education, with particular focus on emerging domains and implications for the Indian context. A narrative review of literature published between 2018 and 2025 was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Peer-reviewed articles focusing on interdisciplinary learning, emerging technologies, and curriculum integration in nursing education were included. Data were thematically analysed. The review identified key interdisciplinary domains relevant to nursing education, including psychology, public health, artificial intelligence, digital health, genetics, climate change, and policy studies. Evidence suggests that interdisciplinary learning enhances clinical reasoning, collaboration, technological readiness, and adaptability among nursing students. However, challenges such as curriculum overload, limited faculty expertise, and resource constraints persist, particularly in low- and middle-income settings. Cultivating interdisciplinary interest is essential for preparing nurses to meet evolving healthcare demands. Strategic curriculum reform, faculty development, and policy support are required to strengthen interdisciplinary nursing education, especially in the Indian context.
